Itinerary


UPDATED SCHEDULE 

Monday, 5/28Arrive at 1:50 p.m. at Los Angeles International Airport.  THREE hours is required prior to leaving on international flights.  Our flight departs at 4:50 p.m.

Tuesday, 5/29 – Arrive in Amsterdam at 12:15 p.m. to change planes, 2:30 p.m. departure for Warsaw, arrive in Warsaw at 4:25 p.m., transfer to Hotel Metropol by bus to check in and have dinner

Wednesday, 5/30 – Morning bus & walking tour of Warsaw (Old Warsaw and New Warsaw) with a local guide.  We visit Polin Museum - the museum of the history of the Jews of Poland.  

Thursday, 5/31 – Corpus Christi Day, a Catholic and Polish national holiday. Watch the religious parade, visit Nozyk synagogue, meet with Warsaw college students.

Friday, 6/1 – Store luggage at the hotel, visit Uprising Museum using public transportation.  Return to the hotel to pick up luggage, travel by bus to the train station, 1:45 p.m. train to Krakow that arrives at 4:08 p.m., transfer to Hotel Kazimierz by bus to check in.  Friday night we attend a Sabbath (Shabbat) service with dinner afterwards at the Jewish Community Center in Kazimierz.

Saturday, 6/2 – Morning Kazimierz walking tour with Dr. Myers.  Afternoon walking tour with a local guide including Wawel Royal Castle and Wawel Cathedral.  Boat cruise on the Vistula River in the afternoon. 

Sunday, 6/3 – Attend worship service.  Visit the Schindler Museum, with a guided tour.  Free afternoon. At 6:30 p.m., 11 students with paid reservations will visit the Salt Mine. 

Monday, 6/4 – Motorcoach to Auschwitz, guided tour with headsets, too.  Motorcoach into Czech Republic, stopping for lunch in Brno.  Continue to Prague, check in at Hotel Union, free evening.

Tuesday, 6/5 – Morning walking tour of Prague with local guide, including St. Vitus Cathedral, Prague Castle, and St.Cyril & Methodius Cathedral.  We have a late afternoon meeting with Rabbi Ron Hoffman, resident of Prague.  

Wednesday, 6/6 – Morning walking tour of the Jewish Quarter with local guide, including the Old-New Synagogue, the Jewish Cemetery, and the Jewish Museum. Kafka Museum.  

Thursday, 6/7 – Free day to explore Prague.  At 6:00 p.m., we will attend a concert at Clementium's Mirror Hall with music by Smetana, Dvorak, and Vivaldi. 

Friday, 6/8 – Transfer by bus to Prague airport, flight departure at 8:50 a.m., arrive in Amsterdam at 10:25 a.m.,  transfer by bus to the Hampshire Eden Hotel, check in and drop off luggage, pick up bicycles/helmets from Black Bikes.  Visit the Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue.  Return to hotel to meet local guide at 3:00 p.m. for  walking tour.  Friday night Sabbath dinner at Café de Jaren at 6:30 p.m.  Joined at dinner by Daniel Cil Brecher, a local resident and radio programmer, who will talk about Muslims and Jews in Europe. 

Saturday, 6/9 – Visit Anne Frank House at 9:45 a.m.  Afternoon visit to the Rijksmuseum.   7:15 p.m. canal boat cruise departing from Heineken Brewery.

Sunday, 6/10 – Attend worship service at the Marantha Church.  Free day in Amsterdam.  Group dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Haesje Claes

Monday, 6/11 – Transfer to Schiphol airport by bus, 12:45 p.m. flight departure, arrive LAX at 2:50 p.m.
